Let it never be said that OpenSpace is no fun. In fact, we’re ready to prove it. Due to popular demand, OpenSpace’s Forum (affectionately known as the “south side”) will become exclusive event space as of Saturday, April 17th.

What does that mean? Well, we’re painting a wall, moving the lockers to the north side and removing the unmovable tables. The Forum will now be able to play host to larger workshops, conferences, rehearsal dinners, receptions & company events. Thanks for your patience everyone as we make this exciting transition! And to celebrate the new event space, we’re having a party!

    You’re Invited!

Last Wednesday, OpenSpace co-sponsored Open Pitch Night with E*Society. We hoped entrepreneurs and small businesses would come out for the event. Obviously we were excited when over 50 people joined us for the opportunity to hear and share what is happening in the world of Charlottesville (area) businesses. We heard pitches from a great variety of people; everything from a gaming company, NoMuda Games, to an individual that’s developed a new technology to increase golf swing accuracy. Marcy got to start the evening with a pitch for OpenSpace–fantastic way to get the night started! All in all, Pitch Night was a great experience. Dinner, drinks and hearing from our peers? Great, indeed.

To those of you who came out for Open Pitch Night, thank you! It was a pleasure.

When the work is done, it’s time to play.
And what better way to unwind then to go to the movies. But sometimes a night out at the movies goes slightly awry.

You know. We’ve all experienced a little grouchiness at a movie theater from time to time. We feel crowded. We feel uncomfortable. Our feet are sticking to the floor to gosh-knows-what. We just spent half our grocery money on tickets, snacks, and a drink. We anticipated a night out at the big screen, but now we’re just broke, disappointed, and afraid to use the bathrooms.

Welcome to The Warehouse District’s solution:

    Movie Night at OpenSpace!

Join us for a screening of District 9. Did we happen to mention that it’s FREE?!? On the house, complimentary, gratis, no moolah, zero bucks. It doesn’t get any better than this.

    And yet it does.

Drinks, popcorn, and snacks will also be provided for FREE. Yeah baby!

So reserve your green chair while spaces are open at OpenSpace. Seating capacity is set at 50.

    The Bottom Line:

Who: Friends of OpenSpace at least 18 years old
    What: District 9 (see trailer)
    Where: OpenSpace, South Side
    When: Saturday, January 30, 6:30PM
How: Attendees must RSVP via email to rsvp@getopenspace.com
Why: All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

Update: Ughhh..let it snow?! With the snow forecast being as it is, we are postponing this Saturday’s FREE MOVIE NIGHT. We’ll keep you posted on new date!

Wish you could leave your gear at OpenSpace? Think it would be cool to get your mail at OpenSpace? Secure your very own locker now.

For Pay-As-You-Go Members, it is only $25/month for a locker big enough to easily hold your laptop, books, papers, and most anything you do not want to lug around. And mail service is included! When you receive mail at OpenSpace, one of the Concierges will slide your mail through a slot in your locker. Voila. Snail mail at your fingertips.

For Unlimited Members, while supplies last, the locker is included in your plan. No extra cost for you to store your stuff and receive your mail at OpenSpace.

Currently, the lockers are positioned on the South Side. Next time you’re in OpenSpace, go and check them out. Test them out to see if all your work items fit. To make it officially yours, just talk to the Concierge on duty. Pick your locker and get your key. It’s that easy.
