With tomorrow being Earth Day and with our impending attendance at Green Matters, Charlottesville’s celebration of Earth Day, there’s been a lot of discussion amongst us all about making the office as “green” as possible. Still lots of decisions to be made, but there are so many smart choices we can make that will have a positive impact on our OpenSpace community. A few initial ideas:
- - Buy furniture that is sustainable and can be recycled
- - Go as paperless as possible and recycle the paper that is used or printed (on recycled paper, of course!)
- - Offer online registration and billing
- - Plant trees for every member brought on
- - Offer a variety of glass, plastic, aluminum recycling and food composting options
- - Use reusable kitchen items for food, water, coffee, catering, etc.
- - Use pens and pencils made of recycled materials
- - Use eco-friendly bulbs and lighting
- - Offer fair trade coffee
- - Offer heart healthy catering options
